Wet Winter

Following some of the wettest weather the Lake District has ever experienced in recent years it’s great to have a spell of dry weather. A bit of sunshine to brighten West Cumbria back up. The road to recovery for Keswick, Cockermouth and many other places that were affected is well under way. As much as I enjoy being a professional wedding photographer based in the Lake District I still have a passion for photographing the Lake District. The Lake District is great for photographers with photo opportunities around every corner.

Derwent Water

This is a favourite picture of Derwent Water. Skiddaw and Keswick lie in the distance. The two swans adding a bit of foreground interest to the picture was a bonus.

Favourite Locations

Other favourites on the doorstep are Wastwater & Ennerdale. Wastwater with it’s high screes, tallest mountains and deepest lake is famous for it’s fantastic light, sometimes dark & atmospheric and sometimes bright & simply magnificent. People love Wastwater because it was officially voted “Britain’s Favourite View”. Ennerdale is a quiet secluded valley surrounded by some of the highest fells in Cumbria, a million miles away from the crowded streets of Bowness On Windermere & Ambleside. Ennerdale is designated a wilderness area. Bowness Knott is on one side of the valley and Pillar Rock dominates the other side.
